Phil Mac Donald has recently been spotted in Italy. Our collaborator Philip Tap

did not escape the fact the 'opportunity to meet him. Here's the exclusive interview.

This is your first time in Italy? You've already been able to try a few waves along our shores?

Definitely this is my first time in Italy and I must say that I am very curious to know this country and surf a few waves along the Italian spot. Tomorrow, I'm told that the wind will turn and enter a swell interesting, so I'm looking forward to getting in the car with the boys and see what these waves in store for me.

The surf is going through a period of tremendous developments in technology, especially on the air. Do you think these changes are positive or totally negative for the sport?

Surf last year is reaching incredible heights thanks to riders like Dane Reynolds and Jordy Smith who, with their crazy air tricks are making really unthinkable, combined with a fluid style and knows how to sweep up any movement, therefore, all this, I can only judge him as a very positive development.

The life of the ASP Pro rider, is always seen as a great life, do you agree with this statement or you can also tell us some downside?

Well, a bit like all things in the life of a Pro rider, certainly has positive aspects like the fact that travel the world surfing the best waves, go to the party, but behind this aspect secondary c ' is certainly an endurance training, both mental and physical pressure and a continuous stay focused on the objectives of each of us, always giving the best at every opportunity.

According to your experience, as seen from abroad, the Italian world of surfing? And what of it you know?

To tell you the truth I do not know very much the view of the surf Italian, is a world that is intriguing me for some years but I never had the chance to experience, in fact, for me the session tomorrow will be a "medium" to know this world at 360 ° world I know only indirectly through stories of friends who came to Italy to surf, waves and was amazed that this country has to offer and how the surf is turning into a massive reality in mind.

team in Ocean / Earth, of which you belong, there are big names in the surf like Bobby Martinez, Mick Campbell, Owen Wright. What did it mean for you to enter a team in so prestigious?

I am very happy to be part of a team, that among his rider, has the quality and talent as a surfer Mick, Bobby and Owen. We often do promotional trip together, and then to share new experiences as well as strengthen our friendship.

Living hard, have fun, to surf.

What is the value higher than the surf and the ocean have sent you?

I believe that the highest value that has given me the ocean and surfing is much respect, understood as a blend with the nature that surrounds me, and then to the ocean, even the respectable and respected people, cultures and traditions of each country.
